In 2011, The Most High gave Sandra Polk the vision to start her own popcorn shop. About the same time, a gourmet popcorn shop opened in Huntsville, so Polk and her husband decided to wait on opening their own shop to support the new venture.

The idea for opening a shop began weighing heavily on her mind again – so much so that she didn’t sleep for months. Polk’s mother promised to help her bag the popcorn if she would take the leap of faith. Before following through on her offer, her mother passed away, but she was determined to press on with her dream.

From August 2015 to January 2016, she began selling her popcorn at the Limestone Flea Market. She named her business after one of her granddaughters, Zion. She was also inspired by the hymn, “We’re Marching to Zion.”

Polk later operated out of a trailer her son found on a road near Harvest. She cleaned the trailer, parked it in Harvest and began selling her goods from there.

Zion took care of all the goodies we gave our guests for our wedding and I can't begin to explain how incredibly happy we were with everything. The attention to detail on these treats is fantastic and as a person who doesn't always love sweets I can say that I found myself going back for more on multiple occasions. The owners are super friendly and have servant's hearts which is even more of a reason they should continue to thrive as a staple in historic downtown Madison; we're blessed to have such a great family and business in our town.
